People who love to cook barbecue also give back to the community, and The Georgia
Barbecue Classic is about more than the pursuit of the perfect rib, it's a primary
fundraising event for Cartersville's Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter.
The Shelter's mission is to provide men, women, and families with temporary shelter
and physical, emotional and spiritual support. The Shelter focuses on assisting
the homeless to find ways to become productive members of the community. 100%
of the proceeds from The Georgia Barbecue Classic go to fund Good Neighbor's efforts
to assist the homeless in our community.
The Shelter is only able to produce this event through the tireless efforts of our
volunteers, generosity of our sponsors and the support of every cook that enters
the contest and person that buys a ticket. For this we sincerely thank you.
